Abstract

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of confirmed tuberculosis cases reported in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) in the Northern Region of Brazil, between 2020 and 2024. Methods: Descriptive, quantitative study using secondary data from SINAN, made available by DATASUS. Confirmed tuberculosis cases in the Northern Region between 2020 and 2024 were included. The variables analyzed were federative unit, sex, age group, race/color, clinical form, laboratory confirmation, and HIV serology, using absolute and relative frequencies (%). Since these are public data, ethical review was waived. Results: 63,936 cases were registered, with a progressive increase in notifications and a higher concentration in the states of Pará and Amazonas. Males aged 20 to 39 years and self-declared mixed race predominated. The pulmonary form was the most frequent, and most cases had laboratory confirmation. Regarding TB-HIV coinfection, negative results predominated, although records without testing persist. Conclusion: Tuberculosis remains an important public health problem in the Northern Region, associated with social inequalities. The reliance on secondary data and possible underreporting constitute limitations of the study.
