Abstract

Objective: To analyze the seroprevalence of transmissible infections and the epidemiological profile of blood donors at the Anápolis Onco-Hematology Institute (IOHA) from 2019 to 2024. Methods: This is a retrospective, analytical, and descriptive study conducted using 53,953 electronic records from the Onco-Hematological Institute of Anápolis (IOHA). Sociodemographic variables and screening results for HIV, HBV, HCV, HTLV, syphilis, and Chagas disease obtained from medical records were analyzed. Data were processed using descriptive statistics and association tests (Chi-square) in SPSS software, with a 5% significance level. Results: The overall frequency of serological reactivity was 1.47% (n=792), with a predominance of males (67,0%) and the 25-34 age group (30.4%). Syphilis was the main marker of ineligibility (51.6%), with a higher incidence in regular donors (60%). Hepatitis B (32.6%) was concentrated in the 45-59 age group, while HIV (8.1%) prevailed in young men. Sex, age, occupation, and type of donation showed a statistically significant association with seropositivity (p<0.001). Conclusion: The study highlights syphilis as the main challenge to local transfusion safety and identifies specific vulnerability profiles, although limited by the retrospective nature of the data. The findings reinforce the need for continuous epidemiological surveillance and targeted screening strategies.
