Abstract

Objective: To analyze the experiences and perceptions of professionals working in the Intra-Hospital Organ and Tissue Donation Committee for Transplantation (CIHDOTT). Methods: This is a qualitative study. Data collection took place between December 2024 and March 2025 through interviews. Eight nurses and three psychologists working on the CIHDOTT were interviewed. The thematic analysis technique proposed by Bardin was used, with the support of the webQDA software. The results were organized into categories of analysis: meanings and perceptions of working in the CIHDOTT, facilitators and barriers in the donation process, and strategies for strengthening the donation process. Results: The study highlights the great importance of analyzing the perceptions of professionals who make up the CIHDOTT. It reveals the complexity and sensitivity that permeate the donation process, the perceptions and experiences of the teams working on the committees, and the need to understand this reality in order to help the greatest number of people through organ donation and transplantation. Conclusion: Professionals potentially act as mediators between the potential donor, the family, and the recipient, identifying facilitators for effective organ procurement such as appropriate approach, support, bonding, and prior communication about donation.
