Abstract

Objective: To map and analyze, through a bibliometric study using the Scopus database, the scientific production on the teaching of Biostatistics in higher education in health, identifying temporal trends, publication patterns, countries, institutions, authors, citations, and thematic evolution between 2000 and July 2024.Methods: This was a descriptive, quantitative, and bibliometric study conducted in the Scopus database through the CAPES Journal Portal. Original and review articles available in full text in Portuguese, English, or Spanish were included. After applying the eligibility criteria and screening titles and abstracts, 105 publications composed the study corpus. Data were organized in Microsoft Excel and analyzed using VOSviewer®, considering temporal distribution, countries, authors, institutions, citations, and keyword co-occurrence. Results: Scientific production increased over time, with the highest number of publications in 2014. The United States accounted for 37.14% of the studies, followed by India and Australia. Institutional concentration and thematic networks related to biostatistics, health education, nursing, and evidence-based medicine were also identified. The findings demonstrate growing interest in biostatistics teaching, while also revealing geographic and institutional inequalities in scientific production. Final considerations: Strengthening curricula, faculty development, and research infrastructure is essential to improve the quality and reach of biostatistics education in health-related programs.
