Abstract
Objective: To develop and validate a podcast as an educational technology on heart transplantation aimed at healthcare professionals. Methods: A methodological study conducted with the participation of nursing residents and developed in three phases: Phase 1 – identification of the topic; Phase 2 – development and validation of the podcast technical script; and Phase 3 – production and evaluation of the podcast. Statistical analyses included the Content Validity Indexes, Binomial Test, and McDonald’s Omega coefficient. Results: The final product consisted of the podcast “Transplante em Foco”, episode “Heart Transplantation: from indication to post-heart implantation”. The script was previously submitted to validation by 16 experts, presenting favorable evidence of content validity. In the subsequent stage, the podcast was evaluated by 20 professionals working in heart transplantation regarding functionality, appearance, and sound environment, showing favorable evaluations in these domains, with I-CVI values above 0.78 and adequate internal consistency values in the respective domains. The episode was adapted into a videocast format, with translation into Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS), as suggested by the evaluators, but did not undergo the validation process. Final considerations: The episode presented favorable evidence of validity regarding the evaluated aspects of content, functionality, appearance, and sound environment, with good internal consistency, although differences in universal agreement were observed among the domains. The subsequent adaptation to an audiovisual format with LIBRAS added an accessibility resource to the product, whose effectiveness still needs to be investigated. The research was conducted in a specific institutional context and did not evaluate the impact of the technology on knowledge acquisition or changes in professional practice. Future studies are recommended to investigate educational effectiveness.
