Abstract

Objective: To carry out a narrative review on the presence of binge eating disorder in the workplace. Bibliographic Review: Binge eating disorder is mainly characterized by the presence of recurrent binge eating episodes without the company of a compensatory mechanism to combat a possible increase in body weight. Eating behavior disorders are known to have a multifactorial etiology and there is evidence that the work environment can be a triggering factor of illness, depending on the conditions under which work activities are performed. In this sense, it was observed that the circumstances in which the work is performed seemed to be related to the prevalence of binge eating disorder, with a higher prevalence of this disease in workers with psychosocial stress, obesity and dissatisfaction or body image dysfunction. Final Considerations: It is important to be concerned with the health of the worker, especially those who perform activities of high demand, avoiding working environments and conditions that can trigger nutritional disorders.
