Abstract

Objective: To analyze the survival of patients with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) in relation to early surgical correction and to discuss the role of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies in the management of the disease. Literature review: The literature highlights significant advances in the treatment of TOF in recent decades, particularly improvements in surgical techniques, the development of less invasive therapeutic alternatives, and the use of modern diagnostic technologies to support clinical decision-making. Early surgical correction has shown favorable outcomes when the patient's clinical and anatomical conditions allow the procedure. The literature also emphasizes the importance of continuous and structured long-term follow-up, enabling the identification and management of potential late complications, including pulmonary regurgitation, right ventricular dilation, and arrhythmias. Final considerations: To achieve better hemodynamic outcomes, reduce late complications, and improve quality of life in patients with TOF, early surgical correction, when indicated, combined with modern diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and continuous multidisciplinary follow-up, represents a fundamental strategy for the appropriate management of the disease throughout life.
