Abstract
Objective: Analyze the cognition and quality of life in children with non-syndromicorofacial cleft. Methods: Realized a study with 67 children, between 05 and 11 years old, grouped as follows: G1 (patients with cleft lip and palate; n = 21); G2 (normoreactive children linked to private school; n = 23) and G3 (normoreactive children linked to public school; n = 23), being G1 the case group and control groups G2 and G3. Anamnesis, medical records verification, cognitive assessment, quality of life analysis and oral health quality assessment were performed. Results: The sample distribution was similar to those observed in studies. The low socioeconomic level of G1 (class C-2 42.95%; class D-E 28.6%) predominated, especially when comparing the high level of G2. The G1 was the only group to have intellectually disabled children (n = 3; 14.28%), well as not apresented children with much higher intelligence. Analyzing the quality of life, significantly lower statistical values were found for G1 in the autonomy domain, besides showing lower oral health quality in other domains. Conclusion: The child with orofacial cleft has poor oral health, manifests slight limitations in quality of life and no cognitive impairment.
