Abstract

Objective: To review in the scientific literature about Cone Beam Computed Tomography (TCCB) and its applications in Endodontics, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. Bibliographic review: The applied strategy to approach the theme was a bibliographic review, using a narrative review to support the discussion on the main points and specificities that occur in the theme. There are two types of computed tomography, fan beam computed tomography (TCFB) is used in medicine, and cone beam computed tomography (CBT) is used in dentistry, CBT is a new technology, being an innovative technique for obtaining an image. In Endodontics, TCCB has gained prominence in the indication of images due to the greater accuracy of images, in the understanding of sectional images, thereby preventing the need for repetition, thus avoiding the risk without benefit. Final considerations: It was observed that CBT is of great importance in endodontic diagnosis, facilitating the visualization of anatomical structures, locating root canals, identifying periapical lesions, root fractures and resorption, in addition to assisting in endodontic surgery and in making endodontic virtual guides.
