Abstract
Objective: To analyze the effect of aloe leaf extract on the healing of experimental lesions. Methods: It consists of a practical research with a quantitative approach and comparative experimental objective, using five groups of Wistar rats (Ratus norvegicus). Of these, group A was the control group, subjected to washing with saline; group B received Nebacetin ointment; finally, groups C, D and E form the test group, in which different concentrations of Aloe vera extract were used (20%, 50% and 100%, respectively). Tissue cuts at microscopic and macroscopic levels were analyzed. Results: In the macroscopic analysis, it was observed that groups D and E obtained an excellent healing response, similar to the control group. In microscopic analysis, groups D and E were the ones that presented, mostly, mild inflammatory infiltrate, in addition to the absence of hemorrhagic foci, confirming the findings of the macroscopic analysis. Conclusion: The use of aloe vera showed benefits when compared to the control group in the speed of healing and the evolution of the lesions. Therefore, this research concludes that Aloe vera extract is a good alternative for wound healing because it is inexpensive and easily accessible.
