Abstract
Objective: To describe, through an integrative literature review, the perception of self-image and sexuality in women undergoing mastectomy. Methods: It is an integrative literature review with search for scientific articles available in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), International Literature in Health Sciences (MEDLINE) and Nursing Database (BDENF) from January 2010 to December 2018. Results: Through the use of 04 articles, it was possible to evaluate the qualitative and quantitative approach in the studies developed during the proposed period, however it is demonstrated a certain limitation in the publication of works with the theme addressed, despite the present and growing number of breast cancer cases in the country. Final considerations: Therefore, mastectomized women, need to be encouraged, so that they can change this stigma from mutilated women to empowered women, their body and their sexuality, that even without a breast or half of it, it is still possible to be desired and loved.
