Abstract
Objective: To present the preliminary results of treatment with intravesical instillation of hyaluronic acid in a clinical case of interstitial cystitis. Case Details: Female patient, 39 years old, came to the service complaining of pelvic, acyclic pain, associated with irritative symptoms, 4 years ago and refractory to other treatments. Upon examination, suprapubic pain and exclusion of other pathologies were found. The diagnostic hypothesis was bladder pain syndrome or interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC) which is a chronic, non-bacterial bladder wall disease with painful and disturbing symptoms, such as urgency, increased urination and nocturia lasting at least six months. The initial therapeutic proposal was weekly intravesical instillations of Cystistat®, and according to the evolution and improvement of the patient's clinical condition, it was proposed to space these intervals for biweekly and then monthly intervals in order to guarantee remission of symptoms. Conclusion: After intravesical treatment with Cystistat® in a patient with BPS/IC, a reduction in symptoms was observed through a report after each follow-up visit.
