Abstract
Objective: To analyze the profile of physical therapists who work in adult ICUs in the city of Teresina / PI.
Methods: The sample consisted of 53 physical therapists. Data collection took place between April and June
2018. Professionals of both genders were included and those who dropped out of the survey, did not complete the questionnaire and institutions that did not accept to participate or did not respond to a co-participant request within a reasonable time were excluded. It was applied to an online questionnaire available by email and by messaging applications containing 32 questions. Results: There was a predominance of females, with an average of 31.7 ± 5.59 years, postgraduates (92.45%) with prevalence in intensive care, private service workers (52.8%) and 62, 3% of information that receives training when admitted to the sector. It was found that 28.3% are not exclusive to the ICU and 60.4% consider themselves very satisfied or professionally satisfied, with greater satisfaction in the private service. Conclusion: The physiotherapists are selected, are in constant improvement and their duties are still not well defined, depending on the multidisciplinary team to which they are inserted. It was observed that a higher qualification in intensive care and professional satisfaction in the private sector and physiotherapists in the public service seem to have greater autonomy and experience in the ICU sector.
