Abstract

Objective: To identify the perception and feelings of family members of patients undergoing kidney transplantation. Methods: This is an exploratory, descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, carried out with ten family members of post-kidney transplant patients. A semi-structured interview was conducted, in which it took place from January to February 2019, were recorded, transcribed and submitted to analysis through the IRAMUTEQ software that generated the classes in the thematic modality. They were analyzed using the Descending Hierarchical Classification (CHD). Then, Factor Analysis by Correspondence (AFC), checking the incidence of words in the Cartesian plane. Finally, the word cloud was generated in which evocations were considered most frequently. Results: The analyzed content generated three classes: Class I (33.86%), Class II (30.71%), Class III (35.43%). The AFC presented the classes in the Cartesian plane, separated in opposite quadrants. Class one and class two represented in the upper and lower left quadrants, emerging different subjects. While in the upper and lower right quadrant, class three is exposed. In the word cloud, the terms were more frequently organized (“No”, “Very”, “People”). Final considerations: It is concluded that the relatives of transplant patients experience different contexts that cause physical and emotional changes requiring professional support.
