Abstract
Objective: To evaluate studies on pharmaceutical interventions aimed at reducing Drug-Related. Problems in elderly patients, while using antibiotics, in the hospital context. Methods: This is an integrative review. The included studies responded to previously defined criteria, which adopted study participants as "elderly hospitalized in units of medium and / or high complexity"; interventions to be investigated as “pharmaceutical interventions at hospital level” and results to be measured as “clinical, epidemiological, access (output), humanistic and / or economic evidence”. Data were collected from secondary sources, with a time frame from 2015 to 2020, in which studies related to monitoring / care were selected in elderly patients, whose methodological characteristics were Controlled Clinical Trials, Randomized Controlled Clinical Trials and Systematic Reviews, mandatorily in the medium and high complexity care levels. Results: Were selected 7 studies, and each presented a method of pharmaceutical intervention for the problem presented. Final considerations: The analysis of the results suggested that there is evidence that pharmaceutical interventions can reduce Drug-Related Problems in antibiotic therapy in hospitalized elderly; however, robust investigations about the effects of these interventions on the promotion of economic sustainability are not identified.
