Abstract
Objective: To report the case of a patient who in the postoperative period for resection of urothelial carcinoma of bladder tumor, evolves with an adynamic ileum by occlusion of the celiac trunk. Details of the case: A 61-year-old female patient underwent endoscopic resection of a bladder tumor, discharged at 24 h. After 72 hours postoperatively, she evolved with abdominal distension, abdominal tomography showing adynamic illeum, improved by 48 h, subsequently worsened and new tomographic evaluation was shown to occlude the celiac trunk with gastric and eplnicaeic ischemia. A standard surgical procedure was performed, but septic shock was died in the 9th postoperative period. Atherosclerosis of the digestive arteries is a condition often observed, but most carriers are asymptomatic even with marked stenosis, eventually an acute and catastrophic event may occur. Final considerations: It was found that even in little invasive surgical procedures, ischemia of the celiac trunk and the adynamic ileum can occur, being a difficult management complication. Systemic arterial disease is a facilitator of these events in the postoperative period, having severe and fatal outcomes, and it is necessary to diagnose and treat early to reduce the risks of its occurrence.
