Abstract
Objective: Analyze the scientific production related to neonatal mortality in the first week of life based on scientific articles. Methods: Exploratory study, through an integrative review where a search was made for articles on the theme; the databases were: Virtual Health Library (VHL), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). Results: The studies carried out confirm that neonatal deaths are the result of a close and complex relationship of sociodemographic factors, conditions of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the characteristics of premature live births. Considerations final: Although some scientific productions recognize such weaknesses in care, the authors did not indicate ways to qualify prenatal care. Thus, it is necessary to pay attention to pregnancy at the primary level, often reflected in hospital care, we characterize this as access to basic information about the conditions in which the pregnant woman is, as well as the attention that must be taken by the hospital network. The implications point to the need to intensify the planning and implementation of actions and surveillance in neonatal care.
