Abstract
Objective: To draw an epidemiological profile of stroke patients in northeastern Brazil from 2010 to 2019. Methods: This was a retrospective, longitudinal, exploratory and descriptive study, in addition to being quantitative. This study was based on information contained in the databases of the Hospital Information System (SIH) and in the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) of stroke cases in the years 2010 to 2019. Results: The results revealed an increase of the disease during the analyzed period, with a slight prevalence in males (50.8%). Regarding the mortality of the disease, there were no sudden changes in the period studied, with an average of 17.74% of deaths per case. Conclusion: It appears, therefore, that the subject addressed in this study is of fundamental importance both as a source of epidemiological information on stroke in northeastern Brazil and as a reference for other scientific research that addresses this topic.
