Abstract

Objective: In the Covid-19 pandemic scenario, many deaths occurred in elderly residents of Long-Term Care Institutions (LTCIs), who become more vulnerable due to the comorbidities they have and the constant contact with health professionals. This study aims to monitor and track symptomatic residents of COVID-19 in LTCIs by medical students, through telemedicine. Experience Report: The remote monitoring carried out by daily telephone contact for each institution enabled the early detection of risk situations, with the implementation of actions that made it possible to prevent health problems among symptomatic people and interrupt the transmission of the virus. All data collected for the Municipal Health Department were updated daily through reports, being a fundamental measure of health surveillance. In addition, the program also demonstrated the contribution of telemedicine to the pandemic and medical education. Final Considerations: Telemonitoring proved to be an effective tool for tracking and reporting suspected cases of Covid-19 in LTCIs, which contributed to the region's epidemiological database.
