Abstract
Objective: To report the experience of the actions of the Academic League of Cardiology and the repercussions on medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Experience report: This is an experience report on the actions of the Academic League of Cardiology of a public university in the pandemic of COVID-19. Within the scope of teaching, the module on heart failure was carried out; informative class about the action of COVID-19 on the cardiovascular system; mini course in anatomy and physiology of the heart; lecture on unstable arrhythmias in the emergency and the 1st online Symposium on cardiovascular emergencies using online teaching technologies. Regarding the university extension scope, an online campaign was carried out to raise awareness of systemic arterial hypertension and the production, on social media, of informational materials on the topic. Together with other university leagues, it created the ‘League Committee’, disseminating up-to-date content on COVID-19 to the academic and general community. The campaign on arterial hypertension originated a research project that used digital technology to disseminate and obtain information, being a channel of awareness to participants about the importance of cardiovascular self-care. Final considerations: In the challenging scenario of the pandemic, the academic league stood out as a channel for the dissemination of knowledge to the academy and to the population outside of the university.
