Abstract
Objective: To report a clinical case and analyze the effects of low power laser therapy associated with the use of B complex in the post-surgical treatment of resection of odontogenic keratocyst in the right mandibular region in order to prevent definitive paresthesia in the mandibular nerve. Case detail: A 52-year-old female patient came to a private practice in the city of Belém do Pará complaining of algia in the posterior region of the right mandible and difficulty in chewing. At clinical examination, a slight increase in intraoral volume was observed. Algia was reported on palpation and mobility of the dental element 47. In view of this, imaging exams were requested to analyze the case. Final considerations: The odontogenic keratocyst consists of a pathology that is of great interest due to the frequency with which it is reported in the literature and its ability to develop in the facial region with aggressiveness, and may leave mutilating sequels, such as paresthesia. In this sense, it is concluded that the use of this therapy brought benefits in the treatment of paresthesia in a short period of time, since the sensory perception of the patient at the end of treatment was within normal limits.
