Abstract

Objective: This report of experience aims to present the importance of TSB participation in a hospital environment through a training course in hospital dentistry. Case detailing: To present an insertion model of the dental hygienist in the patients’ comprehensive care, through a continuing training course. Discussion: Hospitals today rely on dentistry professionals to develop comprehensive care in oral problems and begin to awaken to the importance of the dental hygienist within the hospital, whether in intensive care units, semi-intensive care units or hospital beds. This professional can contribute to improve the quality of life of these patients, being responsible for the performance of a good oral hygiene, in order to reduce the accumulation of oral biofilm, and consequently, the possibility of several infectious diseases, which could compromise the individual health.
