Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the quality of life associated with endodontic treatment in adolescents treated in specialized care in a municipality in the state of Bahia. Methods: The study design was longitudinal, with users aged 12 to 20 years seen from December 2017 to May 2019, initially having 90 patients and a sample loss of 20 (N = 70). Instruments were used to identify sociodemographic variables (age, gender, education level and income) and to assess quality of life (OHIP-14) in two moments (before and 30 days after endodontic treatment). In the statistical analysis, the Wilcoxon and Mcnemar tests were used to identify possible associations between the variables. Results: There was a significant improvement both in the values of OHIP-14 and in the number of individuals with impact in all domains after 30 days of the endodontic treatment completed, more exacerbated in the domains related to physical pain (TDE = 3.269) and psychological discomfort (TDE = 2.942). Conclusion: It was observed that endodontic treatment in SUS has a positive impact on the quality of life of these patients, generating an improvement from a social, psychological, physical and functional point of view.
