Abstract
Objective: To identify the implication of the nursing process in the professional practice of nurses. Methods: This is an Integrative Literature Review (RI) study, carried out in May 2020, in the databases: (Lilacs) Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences and (BDENF) Database in Nursing, using the descriptors "Nursing Process", "Autonomy", "Perception" and "Nurse". Research articles were included in their entirety, addressing the researched topic and, made available online and free of charge, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Studies that did not address the theme were excluded. Results: The sample consisted of 13 articles, from which three thematic categories emerged: Implications for the nurse's autonomy and the quality of care; Implications in the nurse's training process; and Implications for nurses' perceptions in the implementation of NP. Final considerations: This study showed NP as essential for professional practice, in terms of guaranteeing autonomy and strengthening the professional category. In addition, it was realized that the search for knowledge must be constant with regard to the correct performance of the NP, according to its five stages.
