Abstract
Objective: To identify the impact of the pandemic on the consumption of alcoholic beverages by medical students at a private college in the capital of Minas Gerais. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative study, carried out through the AUDIT questionnaire, with a sample of students enrolled at the private medical school in the first semester of 2020. For the scientific search for article writing, articles published in the last five years were used, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, in the databases Pubmed, Scielo and Lilacs. Results: Despite the finding of risky consumption, a reduction in the consumption pattern and the consequences related to substance abuse during the isolation period was found. Conclusion: The consequences of the pandemic as the decrease in social life impacted on the reduction of alcohol consumption. Despite the results, as medical students are part of this scenario that enhances vulnerabilities and psychological damage, early interventions for the risk consumption cases found are considered important for prevention and health promotion.
