Abstract
This is a quantitative retrospective descriptive study whose aim was to describe the profile of the pediatric population in an emergency situation in a maternal/child emergency department of a university hospital. The collected data refer to emergency care provided to children 0-14 years old, in 2013, obtained through the Technical Nucleus of Institutional Information database. The profile of the clientele was predominantly male, aged 1-4 years old, seen in the afternoon, residents in the city of Marília, whose prevalent diagnosis corresponds to respiratory diseases, and access to the service was spontaneous. This study made it possible to recognize the demand profile in the search for pediatric emergency service with a view to the development of more structured and articulated actions between health and education action in health to the users.
