Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines quality of life as the individual's perception of their position in life in the context of culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns. Over the years, students will build an academic career that demands dedication, effort and commitment to achieve a satisfactory academic performance. This study aime to evaluate possible differences in quality of life and academic performance in college of daytime and nighttime. We selected 183 students of both sexes, of the day and night periods, from the graduation in health sciences (physical education, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, letters) and exact sciences (production engineering) between 18 and 40 years divided into 5 groups. The results analyzed under the application of the test of analysis of variance Kruskal-Wallis test showed significance (p <0.05) in the physical, physical functioning, vitality, mental health, and academic performance domains before, during and after reading. The quality of life associated with the academic performance of college students shows that the social aspect, emotional aspect and pain domains did not reach significance, being important variables in the levels of understanding, experience and academic outcomes of this period of development.
