Abstract
Objective: To analyze and synthesize the latest scientific production related to the diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease (AD), aiming to bring readers an update on the diagnostic conduct. Bibliographic review: Once the descriptors were selected from the Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS) platform, the terms “Alzheimer's Disease”, “Dementia” and “Diagnosis” were searched in portuguese, english and spanish, in the following databases: PubMed, LILACS, SciELO and Google Scholar. From this research, were selected articles published between 2015 and 2021 that brought innovations about the diagnostic method of AD, which currently has as the only certainty diagnosis the postmortem histological analysis, making the development of new methods that, preferably, are not invasive and can be used in early stages of the disease essential. Final considerations: The advances made in recent years in relation to AD's diagnosis are promissing, with innovations presented through tests of biomarkers and through the analysis of neuroimaging exams with the use of computational intelligence. There is still room for further research and feasibility of other diagnostic methods, such as postural control tests and gait tests.
