Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the level of asthma control in relation to the risk factors that trigger the symptoms and the therapeutic profile used in the treatment of the disease in a reference center in the city of Vitória da Conquista-BA. Methods: Cross-sectional study with patients from 4 years of age diagnosed with asthma. The Asthma Control Test (ACT) questionnaire and a sociodemographic and clinical form were used to obtain the data. Results: Of 81 respondents, 43 had controlled asthma and 38 had uncontrolled asthma, that is, they had some of the parameters for uncontrolled asthma, such as nighttime awakenings, use of relief medication and limitations in daily activities. The proportion of patients with asthma was higher among women, the control of which occurs in young patients and comorbidities such as rhinitis, SAH and diabetes mellitus contributed to uncontrolled asthma. Conclusion: Most patients interviewed had controlled asthma, this can be justified by the fact that the use of oral corticosteroids is uncommon among patients. In addition, the continued use of medications also contributes to controlled asthma.
