Abstract
Objective: To report the experience of undergraduate medical students on the activity of academic monitoring carried out during the remote teaching system (RTS). Experience report: The academic monitoring during the RTS was a challenging experience in which technological tools provided essential support to enable the assistance to students and the satisfying development of activities. In order to rate the applicability of these resources during the monitoring program, a questionnaire has been developed and made available for students to answer anonymously and voluntarily. Evaluating the communication between students and monitors, 65.38% of the respondents have considered that it improved over the remote system and 92.31% considered that the subdivision into smaller groups was a strategy that made this result possible. Thus, there is an example of the importance of adopting alternative ways of communication to build up interaction between monitors and students, enabling the objectives of the academic monitoring activity. Final considerations: The monitors were capable of innovations, during the remote teaching system, which has guaranteed the effectiveness of the monitoring program, maintaining the proximity with the students, the clarification of doubts and the experience of initiation to the teaching activity, fulfilling its role of contributing to the learning of students and monitors, even in the virtual learning structure.
