Abstract
The definition of challenges, goals and the way which nurses relate to society and the nursing staff have an important point for understanding the theme of their professional autonomy. The present study sought to understand the vision of the nursing technician, part of the nursing team, on the autonomy of the nurse. The questioning of the work process of nursing technicians has relevance in Brazil since these professionals are responsible for most of the nursing care provided to the population. Qualitative technique was used, according to the oral report, to analyze the opinions and experiences of the nursing technician. The recorded interviews were transcribed to perform the analysis as suggested by Maria Isaura Pereira de Queiroz. The reports presented show that the issue of professional autonomy of nurses is perceived in their daily work as part of their professional activities, in particular, the ability of decision-making and pegged the figure as leader of the nursing team.
