Abstract
The mucocele is a relatively common lesion in the oral cavity, whose main characteristic alter the function of the salivary glands, which begin to accumulate mucus. The pathophysiology of mucocele may develop in two ways: by the retention of mucus due to a decrease or absence of glandular secretion produced by blocking the salivary gland or the extravassamento where fluid is found in the soft tissue surrounding the gland. Injuries, disruptions or duct obstructions secretory salivary gland may contribute to the appearance of mucocele. Clinical trials around the treatment of mucocele not show differences between the lesions in entando enucleation, is touted as the main form of treatment for mucocele. However, some issues regarding mucocele should be considered prior to treatment: characteristics of the lesion, lesion location, depth, size, patient age and oral or systemic pathologies correlated. The Extirpation of lesion of salivary glands and no recurrence of the mucocele, defines success in addressing the case.
