Abstract
Objective: The aim of this work is to present an updated study on acid-base imbalance during cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, offering subsidies for a reflection of the perfusionist to meet the care demand of its patient. Method: This is a review of literature in LILACS, IBECS, MEDLINE and SciELO databases, using eight descriptors related to the subject. In addition, books of remarkable technical-scientific recognition in related fields were consulted. Results and Conclusion: This study integrates the currently available scientific knowledge on acid-base disturbances, as well as the guidelines and suggestions for prevention and management of them during cardiopulmonary bypass.
