Abstract
Objective: To analyze the epidemiological and environmental aspects of malaria in a mining region in the Brazilian Amazon. Methods: Epidemiological data were collected from the databases of the Epidemiological Surveillance Information System - malaria and from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, from 2011 to 2015, and from 28 localities of the State of. municipality (field data). Environmental data were collected from the Automatic Surface Weather Information System of the National Institute of Meteorology and Monitoring System of Deforestation in the Legal Amazon of the Project and data from the Brazilian Amazonia Forest Degradation Mapping System of the National Institute for Space Research. Results: Malaria predominated in the male gender (71.9%), in the age group of 20 to 39 years old (56.5%). The incidence of malaria had an inverse relationship with precipitation levels. Conclusion: Knowledge about malaria epidemiology can help in the implementation of public policies to reduce the prevalence of malaria and help the community to learn how to use the forest in a sustainable way.
