Abstract
Objective: To compare the actions and the results achieved by continuing education at a private hospital and two public hospitals in the region of Campinas, located in the state of São Paulo. Methods: Retrospective descriptive exploratory study. In the study of institutions nurses responsible for Continuing Education each site provided clarifications regarding the organization, operation and planning of this area, along with the provision of materials for inspection of records for Continuing Education in the years 2011 and 1012. Conclusion : There is a need for institutions to invest in continuing education and increase the number of officials responsible for it, so that allows them to evaluate the performance of employees after training. The project was submitted to the Ethics Committee at FCM-Unicamp research, according to Resolution CNS / MS 196/96, Opinion 134,345.
