Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to discuss the contributions of Brazilian Sign Language social inclusion of deaf people in the Brazilian health services. Methods: For this purpose an integrative literature review was performed. Results and conclusion: It was possible to verify that there is a dichotomy in the use of LBS, which acts both as inclusion factor, including the deaf collective within the normal range, rather than the stigma of hearing impaired and as exclusion factor, caused by social prestige and low incidence of uses and social functions in formal spaces. In this context, the training of human resources is essential to establish effective communication with the patient, allowing the professional to understand their needs, since inadequate communication can lead to errors in the diagnosis of disease and consequently in treatment.
