Abstract
Objectives: To analyze the early minimal enteral nutrition in premature newborns admitted to the neonatal ICU FSCMP. Methodology: Descriptive and analytical study in the period from October to November 2015, 38 premature infants weighing less than 1,500 g, admitted to the NICU of Santa Casa Misericordia Para Foundation the following practices were evaluated: days to start enteral feeding, days to reach full enteral feeding, and the type of enteral diet early diet. Results: As for neonatal data 65.79% were female, mean gestational age and birth weight were higher in females than 1207g and 33 weeks respectively. The average time to start enteral feeding was 2.2 days (95% CI 1.86 to 2.46), while to reach full enteral nutrition we took on average 17.1 days (95% CI 14.1 -19.29). The practices were associated, found correlation between early days for enteral diet and weight range (Pearson = 0.73) and days to reach full nutrition and weight range (Pearson = 0.68) showed that the lower the weight birth, longer time to onset of alimentação.100% premature initiated human diet with pasteurized milk. Conclusion: This study revealed that there is no delay to the start of minimal enteral nutrition, since dietary practices recommended in the literature have been adopted.
