Abstract

Objective: Review in scientific literature about carpal tunnel syndrome, demonstrating methods of physical therapy evaluation and treatment. Methods: This research is a literature review where the search for articles occurred through the insertion of descriptors specific to the subject in the databases BVS, Lilacs and Scielo, the following descriptors were used "Physiotherapy" and "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome "And" Medium Nerve. Result: We selected 7 articles according to the theme. According to the studies analyzed, a minimum amount of articles in the field of physical therapy was noticed, and there was no consensus on physical therapy treatment with manual therapy. However, the literature demonstrates that the physical therapy evaluation is essential before any treatment is performed, and there are still authors who report the use of therapeutic and laser ultrasound in the treatment of CTS that improve the clinical picture and being diagnosed, the treatment to the CTS favors the return to activities of daily living. Conclusion: Thus, after analyzing the studies, the importance of multidisciplinary treatment in patients with CTS is verified, especially with careful evaluation of the physiotherapist and the appropriate treatment according to the signals and the symptoms and it is expected that more studies will be performed in the field Of Physiotherapy.
