Abstract
Objective: to report the data of a health program in the city of Espinosa / MG. Method: An analytical descriptive study that reports the data of a project of the Municipal Health Department of the city of Espinosa / MG - "Health Project in Schools". Data were collected in 2012 through the anthropometric evaluation of 88 students aged 10 to 14 years of elementary school from a state school in the city. Results: the majority of the sample was female (61%); 34% were between 40-49kg, followed by 26% weighing between 50-59 kg; prevailed 160 cm and 165 cm high, with 9% each. The analysis of the prevalence of body mass index found that 46% of the students had an ideal weight (between 18.5 and 24.9), but 18% of the students were in low moderate weight (between 16 and 16.9), and another 18% of the students were classified as low light weight (between 17 and 18.49). There were also some children with more severe conditions, such as low severe weight (less than 16) and moderate obesity (between 30 and 34.9). Conclusion: the anthropometry in the students was satisfactory considering that most of the students were within the normality indexes, however there is a significant number of students that are within the low light and moderate weight, being able to evolve to low severe weight Or death if it does not intervene.
