Abstract
Objective: To recognize the importance of the companion with the parturient. Methods: This is an integrative review of the literature, where the following non-clinical question was formulated: "What is the parturient's perception about the presence of companions in the preterm room?". Results: The 05 studies included in this review were identified from A1 to A5. Most articles were in English. Most of the publications were concentrated in the year 2010, and there was no predominance of studies regarding the countries. Regarding the nature of the study, there was a prevalence of cohort studies. The main line of research investigated in this theme was the perception of the parturient about the presence of companions in the prepartum room. Conclusion: It is concluded that the perception of the parturient in relation to the companion is of great relevance from prenatal to labor. It is necessary to reintegrate the family support and the benefits of the accompanying person to the pregnant woman so that the law is fulfilled which advocates the presence of the companion with the woman during labor, delivery and postpartum.
