Abstract

Objective: Check in recent literature what has been published on adherence to the safe surgery checklist and on the culture of patient safety in the operating room. Methods: This is an integrative literature review. The articles were searched in the databases SCIELO, BDENF e LILACS. The inclusion criteria were available articles that were published between the years 2015 to 2020, in Portuguese, original article and available in full. The exclusion criteria were materials published before 2015, articles of integrative review, articles in other languages, themes that escaped the chosen proposal and articles from other countries besides Brazil. Results: 13 articles were selected, grouped into the following categories: Safety culture in the operating room, Adherence to the use of the surgical safety checklist, Barriers and facilitators for the application and adherence of the checklist. Final considerations: The culture of patient safety was considered low and the adherence of the checklist was partial, with a greater adherence to the items at the sign in and less to the items at the sign out. The main facilitators were adherence by the team and training of professionals, while the main barrier was lack of participation and adherence by the team.
