Objective: To present the main results published in the scientific literature in recent years regarding pregnancy in adolescence. Method: Literature review of a descriptive and analytical character, where 46 scientific papers on the subject were discussed. Result: With the result of the research we were able to discuss 4 thematic axes: 1) Reasons that lead to pregnancy in adolescence in the social sphere; 2) Statistical data on teenage pregnancy in the social and demographic context; 3) Complications of early pregnancy in adolescent life; and 4) Measures to prevent pregnancy in adolescence. Conclusion: It was evidenced that the early onset of sexual intercourse, the prospect of improving life by building a new family and living in areas of social risk and violence contribute to the problem. Thus, the strengthening of sex education campaigns in schools, the stimulation of conversations between the family environment, community through the Basic Health Units and the young, favor the prevention of the problem or prevent its recurrence.
