Abstract

Objective: To verify the prevalence of the hydration status of bodybuilders. Methods: For this purpose, this crosssectional study was carried out. Fifty-five bodybuilders participated. The evaluation of the degree of dehydration and hydration conditions of the practitioners of physical activity was performed by the method applied in the VENN ("WUT") diagram consisting of a tool Simplified for evaluation of the state of hydration and combines three simple hydration markers: body weight, urine color and thirst. Results: After the data collection the sample of this work was composed of 58 adults, physical activity practitioners (bodybuilders) of both sexes, with ages ranging from 21 to 59 years. Of these, 54% were male and 46% female. As for the dehydration state, most practitioners of physical activity presented mild dehydration (62%), moderate degree (30%) and severe dehydration (8%). Discussion: Thus, in view of the results of the present study using the Venn method, it was demonstrated that participants had a mild dehydration. Conclusion: the most prevalent gender of this study was the male, in the age group of 21 to 59 years with mild dehydration.
