Abstract
Objective: identify the contributions of the CPN to obstetric and neonatal care in the Brazilian reality. Method: Integrative Review of Literature, whose guiding question is: how does the Normal Birth Center contribute to obstetric and neonatal care in the Brazilian reality? Data collection was carried out in March of the year 2016 in the electronic databases: BVS Enfermagem, LILACS and SciELO. We included studies published between 2000 and 2015, we identified 2,706 articles of these, after refinement, 21 composed the sample. Results: the data gave rise to four themes: favorable environment to humanizing practices in the process of parturition, promotion of non-pharmacological methods, reduction of interventions and complications in labor and delivery, and humanized attention to the newborn and better vitality at birth. Discussion: it was found that although it was created and regulated more than 10 years ago, there is a shortage of publications on CPN and its benefits, perhaps reflecting the limited number of units in Brazil. Conclusion: that Normal Delivery Centers can make significant contributions to obstetric and neonatal care in the Brazilian Health System.
