Abstract

Objective: To understand how the Family Health Strategy participates in stimulating and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding in children under six months. Methods: This is an integrative review performed in LILACS, MEDLINE®, BDENF, SciELO digital library and ACERVO+ databases; which resulted in fifteen articles for the final sample. The strengths and weaknesses related to the work of teams from the Family Health Strategy were extracted in terms of stimulating and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding. Results: As potential, light and hard technologies stand out. In the scope of the weaknesses, aspects related to the fragmentation of the health system and needs related to the performance of the health professional were found. Final considerations: The activities carried out by the Family Health Strategy teams are considered to be very important tools for promoting and encouraging the practice of breastfeeding in the first six months of a child's life, therefore, it is necessary to plan actions by the multidisciplinary team together with the entire women's support network.
