Abstract
Objective: To identify, in the literature, the biosafety measures used by the nursing staff in the antineoplastic administration sector, in order to reduce occupational risks. Methods: This is a qualitative study based on an integrative literature review. Samples were selected from the following online databases: PubMed, Scielo, BVS, in May 2021. Results: Anticancer drugs are highly toxic and can trigger from a small allergy to cancer in professionals who handle the input. Thus, it is necessary to use and correctly handle personal protective equipment to minimize the risks of unnecessary exposure to chemotherapy and consequently reduce occupational risks. Final considerations: Given what was raised, it is observed the importance of the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in all chemotherapy services and the relevance of continuing education for health professionals, thus reducing the existing gaps in services and the protection of the entire care team.
