Abstract
Objective: To analyze the aggression female mortality cases profile and trend in Piaui state between 2000 and 2015. Methods: Ecological time series study with data from the Brazilian Mortality Information System. Deaths of women classified in codes X85-Y09 of the International Classification of Diseases, version 10, were considered feminicide. There was a correction of deaths in two stages, with subsequent calculation of the mortality coefficient per Development Territory (DT) per year. The Joinpoint method was used to assess the mortality trend coefficients and calculate the annual percentage change (APV) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: From 2000 until 2015, 605 women died of external causes in Piauí. The majority were young women aged 20-39 years (53.9%), black (76.1%), single (48.2%) and with less than 8 schooling years (65.1%), whose homicide occurred within the household (40.6%) through the use of firearms (36.3%) or sharps objects (35.3%). There was a rate increase trend in Piauí (VPA + 2.17%; 95%CI 1.18; 4.65), as well as in 06 DT. The remaining showed stability trend. Conclusion: The mortality coefficients showed an increase tendency and indicate the need for greater attention towards the problem and to protect women from its occurrence.
