Abstract
Objective: To analyze and review the effectiveness of New Oral Anticoagulants (NACOs) in Atrial Fibrillation. Methods: Integrative literature review carried out from the search in the Pubmed database, using key words. For the research, a selection of articles was carried out based on the inclusion criteria and later a qualitative analysis of the articles for final selection was made. Results: Therefore, it is possible to observe the safety and efficacy of New Oral Anticoagulants in Atrial Fibrillation, with superiority in relation to warfarin because it reduces the need for frequent follow-up regarding the coagulogram and its adverse effects. It was observed that the risks of ischemic stroke and bleeding were higher in those patients using vitamin K antagonists and mortality from any other causes was lower with the OACs. Final considerations: Despite this, further studies are needed to investigate its effectiveness in other clinical contexts and in the face of other pathologies with regard to pro-coagulant disorders.
