Abstract
Objective: To analyze the national scientific studies on the approach of health professionals to transsexuality. Methods: This is an integrative review of the last five years, carried out from March to May 2021, in order to analyze studies related to the objective of the article, systematizing them for in-depth investigation of the theme. For this, the combination of the descriptors and the Booleans AND and OR was used. Results: Twenty-one articles were included, published between 2017 and 2021, which portrayed themes such as transphobia in health spaces, pathologization of transsexuals experiences, absence of primary care policies aimed at the transsexual public, lack of resources in the health care network for needs of the transsexual public, need for qualification of health professionals in the context of transsexuals experiences, importance of care, reception, specialized care and multidisciplinary care for the transsexual population and need to include content and pedagogical strategies about public policies aimed at the LGBTQIA+ population in medical schools or in the health services themselves. Final considerations: Health professionals' approach to transsexuality needs improvement in relation to how this public should be welcomed, minimizing prejudices perpetrated by society.
