Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of laser/LED in bone repair in fracture-induced rats. Methods: It is configured as an experimental research with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 45 male Wistar rats distributed in different groups (Control, LASER and LED), which were submitted to the protocol of induced injury in the middle third of the right femur and treated in protocols of 7, 14 and 21 days. Results: The 7-day protocol verified an acute inflammatory process, with proliferating red blood cells and osteoblastic activity in the Laser group and in the LED group, with a significant difference in these groups (p<0.05) when compared to the control group. In the 14-day protocol, the control group showed accumulation of inflammatory cells and tissue organization. In the Laser group, it was noted a moderate inflammatory process and greater osteoblastic activity when compared to the control group and LED group. bone, while in the Laser group, bone trabeculae, osteogenic cells and moderate inflammation were detected. In the LED group, neoformed bone tissue and a marked reduction in the chronic inflammatory process were identified. Conclusion: It is observed that both resources used were capable of accelerating the bone repair process in rats.
